Intelligent and authentic response to the complexities of disability and mental health

For service providers

Objectives and targets on social exclusion and worklessness in disability and mental health are often not met despite the best endeavours (and resources) of statutory and third sector agencies.

One of the most substantial issues is the problem caused by interpreting difficulties in a largely clinical or medical framework. While not disputing clinical realities, social exclusion needs robust social interventions.

We will unlock the unconscious barriers that may exist in your service delivery that can compound exclusion. We will assist you in meeting more closely the complex needs of your client groups.

For employers

Sickness absence, poor performance, grievances and disciplinaries are not the inevitable consequence of employing disabled people; they are known to be the consequence of barriers in the workplace.

We can assist you in improving productivity and retention and promoting inclusion by making the right reasonable adjustments and changes to workplace practices and environments.

For disabled people and people with mental health issues

Excluding disabled people, either consciously or unconsciously damages people’s quality of life in many different ways. For people with mental health issues in particular, social exclusion from work and other vital areas of life increases the seriousness of mental health conditions and undermines recovery.

The high level of worklessness amongst disabled people is in no-one’s interest and is a waste of substantial talent and ability. Getting disabled people into work has economic, social and individual benefits and Equals can help to make this ambition a reality.

We work directly with disabled people across the spectrum, to support them with personal and career development strategies and give them confidence to deal with challenges that social exclusion brings. Our training recognises and works with people’s access requirements and provides follow up support.
