Mental Health Training, North London, Haringey
People who have experienced difficulties with mental health are often socially excluded and frequently the exclusion is profound. The mainstay of mental health social exclusion is stigma which is widespread both in employment and society as a whole.
Disability Equality Training and Consultancy has made some headway eroding and dismantling barriers for disabled people who have physical or sensory impairments but corresponding progress has been slower in mental health. Employers are much more likely to be non-compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act (now incorporated into the Equalities Act) in respect of mental health and there can be poor understanding of what compliance means in a mental health context.
There is universal agreement that things need to change.
